Frequently Asked Questions

What error correction level should I use?
QR codes support L (7%), M (15%), Q (25%), and H (30%) error correction. Use H for printed codes that may smudge or be partially covered by a logo overlay. Use L for short-lived digital codes to maximize data capacity at the same module count.
What's the maximum data a QR code can hold?
At the largest size (Version 40, 177x177 modules) and lowest error correction, a QR can hold 7,089 numeric digits, 4,296 alphanumeric, or 2,953 bytes. Keep payloads under 300 characters for reliable scanning from phone cameras at typical distances.
Why won't my QR code scan?
Common causes: insufficient contrast (always dark-on-light, not inverted), printed too small (minimum 2cm side for 30cm scan distance), missing quiet zone (4-module border), or a damaged or low-resolution image. Test with multiple scanner apps before printing in bulk.
